Chicago's River North

River North

This trendy area features one of the nations largest concentrations of art galleries. Named for its proximity to the Chicago River, this neighborhood experienced gentrification in the 1980's, with artists and gallery owners as the early pioneers who increased it's appeal. Many well known art galleries lined Superior, Huron, and Erie Streets between Orleans and Wells Streets. Nightclubs, top notch restaurants and eclectic shops round out the offerings. Hugging the Chicago River is the mammoth Merchandise Mart, housing the world's largest collection of home furnishings show rooms including more than 25 LuxeHome boutiques that are open to the public.
