Chicago's East Loop

New Eastside / Loop

The Loop earned it's name back in the late 1800's from the strands powering cable cars that turned around on a pulley in the center of the city, where the elevated ("El") trains run today. In this bustling part of the city, you'llfind business, political, and cultural institutions like the Art Institute of Chicago; Symphony Center; Lyric Opera; and the Chicago Cultural Center, which offers daily free arts programs and houses one of the city's official tourist information centers. Located in the Lasalle Street Financial District is the Chicago Board of Trade, a stunning example of Art Deco architecture. State Street boasts many large retailers like Macy's and H&M, while to the east is MillenniumPark.

The latest addition is the award winning Lakeshore East neighborhood also known as the New East, was built by Magellan Development. This area is Chicago's most anticipated new luxury rental community boasting lakefront access, a large outdoor park, and amenities that will knock your socks off. Downtown Loop theatre venues include the Goodman, Auditorium, Chicago, Cadillac Palace, and Bank of America theatres and the Ford Center for the Performing Arts/Oriental Theatre.
